RADIO ORLA AIRS 50 YEARS OF JANUARY
Anglo-Polish Radio ORLA.fm is pleased to announce a significant change in the way it broadcasts music. Unlike the lack of imagination of some stations, ORLA.fm introduces music from one month from the past 50 years. That means that music that was in the UK Top-40 charts in January 1960 or January 1972, or January 1990 -- the most popular music of that era -- will be aired this month.
It also means that over the year there will be 12 main playlists, representing the music of a particular month and ensuring that listeners will never get bored of our offer.
Radio ORLA.fm believes this is the first time that a UK radio station has adopted this kind of music formula.
George Matlock, director of Radio ORLA.fm says: "We will continue to select music according to our special formula for success but we will limit it to the music which we or our parents listened to at a given time. The music in January was often specific to the mood in the nation at that time, and we want to reflect that in January 2010. As we enter a new decade for ORLA.fm we are aware that a playlist has to be changing, but also have some logical structure."
The radio station, which is online at www.orla.fm and can be heard on other stations such as Hayes FM 91.8 in London, is also introducing today a new late-night show, Chilli Sofa. The show from 22:00 to midnight Mondays to Thursdays will play a fusion of light jazz and progressive modern sounds --offering therapy after a long day at work while preparing for the next day.
